▚ files open locally — nothing is uploaded
- 01Open a PDF — it stays local.
- 02Click Extract. The text appears in a preview box with page breaks marked.
- 03Copy it to the clipboard or download the .txt file.
Sometimes you don't need the document — you need what it says: quotes for a brief, data for a script, content for a translation. Extraction happens in your browser, which matters, because the files people mine for text are usually contracts, reports and records.
Why did it say no text was found?+
Your PDF is probably a scan — pictures of text, with no text layer to extract. Use our OCR PDF tool, which reads scans with character recognition, entirely locally.
Does the layout survive?+
Plain text keeps line breaks and page order but not columns, fonts or tables — that's the nature of .txt. For layout-preserving copies, keep the PDF.
Is my document uploaded?+
No. Text extraction uses the browser's own PDF engine on your device.
